NSW Hobie Cat State Championships, Twofold Bay Yacht Club – Notice of Race & Entry Form LIVE

Happy New Year Cowboy Sailors!

It’s a new day Hobie Sailors! The clouds are rolling, the rain is pouring and the South-Wester is bellowing as La Niña continues to blanket the East Coast in a whirlwind of chill and humidity. However, has that ever stopped a Hobie Regatta from going ahead?

We think not!

As we were blessed with sunshine, seabreeze and splendour during the 2022 NSW Hobie 14, Women & Youth State Championships w/ Dragoon Nationals, held in Jervis Bay at the Vincentia Sailing Club over the New Year period, we pray to the wind God’s for the blissful 12-15knot Seabreeze that we Hobie Sailors love.

Therefore, we look forward with glorious optimism to the regattas that are on the cards for the Hobie Family in the future, and what is in store for our Cowboy Sailors as we move into 2022.

So, with further ado, we officially announce the 2022 NSW Hobie Cat State Championships OPEN for entries, along with the NOR published, we welcome Hobie Sailors from far and wide to come along and join into what will be a pivotal regatta in the 2022 sailing season…

…leading into the 23rd Hobie 16 World Championships, taking place in Costa Brava, Spain.

Entries are open NOW for all Cowboy Sailors who are members of an Australian Hobie Class Association (ANHCA). All entries can be submitted via the event webpage and will be confirmed via the NSWHCA before the commencement of the State Championships.

The Story…

After the highly eventful and tumultuous year that was 2021. The NSW Hobie Cat Association, in association with Hobie Asia Pacific and the Twofold Bay Yacht Club, will hold the NSW Hobie Cat State Championships on the far South Coast of NSW in Twofold Bay, Eden.

In December of 2019, the States were unfortunately postponed to the February of 2020, due to the tragic circumstances arising from the Black Summer Bushfires. However when we arrived to the February of 2020, the NSW States in Twofold Bay were once again postponed from the ongoing calamities still occurring from the wrath of Mother Nature.

So finally, with a new date set for the final weekend in March, things were looking like they were coming together swimmingly. Our Cowboy Sailors had been training hard for three long, tiring and race-less months, with most East-Coast Sailors thirsting for some quality Cowboy Racing after missing out on the 2019-20 Hobie Cat Nationals over in Jervoise Bay, WA, things were looking up. However, a little mishap known as COVID-19 came along and put an end to the NSW States for good, and for life as we knew it.

So the NSWHCA decided to set the date for the first weekend in December, 2021. But who could’ve picked at the start of 2021, that the tumultuous year we had just had would be repeated once again.

So, after all the hardship that the Twofold Bay YC, Eden and the entirety of NSW’s far South Coast have been through since late 2019…

…the NSW Hobie Cat Association believed it was fitting that we head down south, or up north, or even a long way east to compete on the blue waters of Twofold Bay, Eden for the 2022 NSW Hobie Cat State Championships.

The States will be inclusive for:
– Hobie 16 Opens, Masters, Grand Masters, Great Grand Masters, Womens and Youth
– Hobie 17
– Hobie 18
– Tiger

NOTE:
– for the Hobie 14s and Dragoons, this will not be classed as a State Champs, but there will be start line available for these sailors.

So pack your bags, plan your travels and book your accommodation because this will be an event you will not want to miss!
