These State Titles are for the Hobie 14, Women (on any class of Hobie) and Youth (on any class of Hobie)
This means you can sail for the Hobie 14 State Title and for the Youth or Women's Title.
All other HOBIE Class boats are encouraged to attend, however, they will compete in the miscellaneous fleet and no State Titles will be awarded for these classes.
The State Titles regatta for Hobie 14s, H16 Youth and H16 Women will be sailed at Vincentia Sailing Club on the 9th and 10th of February 2019
Many of the people that sail H14s also sail H16s. A lot of women and youth are regularly crewing for others and don't get the chance (or have a boat) to skipper themselves. By providing a separate event for these classes it gives a lot of people the chance to sail H14 & H16, or Womens and Open - with different skippers/crews.
The NSW Hobie Association wants to see ALL HOBIE classes grow, and this is a great way to grow the Women and Youth fleets without hurting the other fleets. It is also a perfect opportunity for all the Hobie family to get together for another weekend of sailing, and socialising.
Many of the people that sail 14s also sail 16s. A lot of women and youth are regularly crewing for husbands, partners or parents, and don't get the chance (or have a boat) to skipper themselves. By providing a seperate event for these classes at the recent Hervey Bay Nationals, it gave a lot of people the chance to sail 14 & 16, or Womens and Open - with different skippers / crews.
