The NSW Hobie Association is excited to be joining with the Illawarra Yacht Club and Totally Immersed Water Sports to sail the 2017 Open State Titles on Lake Illawarra, Wollongong. This event is open to Hobie 16 (including H16 Masters and Grand Masters), Hobie 18, Tigers and Wildcats.
The Illawarra Yacht Club is located on the North Eastern corner of Lake Illawarra, and has expansive grassy rigging areas well suited to the Hobie Class.
Thanks to our sponsors Totally Immersed Water Sports, each competitor will receive an event rashie with your entry. Make sure you enter no later than Saturday 18th November to guarantee you get the size you want.
No, this regatta is a State Titles for only the Hobie 14, Hobie 16 Women and Hobie 16 Youth.
However, this is a Hobie regatta and ALL other Hobie classes are invited to join us.
The State Titles regatta for all other Hobie classes will be sailed at the usual time early in December.
ALL Hobie classes are invited to this regatta, so there is no reason not to join in at this Hobie event. By having an extra State Titles regatta, we provide an opportunity for the H14, H16 Women and H16 Youth classes to grow
Many of the people that sail 14s also sail 16s. A lot of women and youth are regularly crewing for husbands, partners or parents, and don't get the chance (or have a boat) to skipper themselves. By providing a seperate event for these classes at the recent Hervey Bay Nationals, it gave a lot of people the chance to sail 14 & 16, or Womens and Open - with different skippers / crews.
What does all this achieve? The NSW Hobie Association wants to see ALL Hobie classes grow, and this is a great way to grow the 16, Women and Youth fleets. It is also a perfect opportunity for all the Hobie family to get together for another weekend of sailing, and socialising.
YES!!
This is a HOBIE regatta! While it is a State Championship for only 3 classes, ALL Hobie classes are invited - so bring your 16, 17, 18, Tiger or Wildcat and join us for a spectacular weekend on Jervis Bay!
Random measurement and inspection checks may be carried out at any time during the championships. Measurement is not required, but it is the responsibility of each skipper to ensure their boat complies with the IHCA Class Rules. Random measurement and inspection checks may be carried out at any time during the championships.
